Government info chief outlines IT project exceptions

ZDNet - The government chief information officer has outlined the conditions for exceptions to the central government moratorium on new IT projects. John Suffolk said projects may go ahead when they can produce cashable savings, or when to not do so will risk the viability of front line services. He described the conditions in an official blog post, his first since the change of government. It comes in response to the coalition's imposition of a moratorium on new projects worth more than £1m and a review of existing projects as part of its effort to reduce public spending.
