HMRC ‘Aspires’ to find 400 new IT suppliers

TechMarketView - The next step in bringing back in house HM Revenue & Customs’ multibillion pound, multiyear IT outsourcing contract ('Aspire') has been taken this week with the issue of a £40m two-year tender for an external advisor to oversee the process (Source: FT). The existing contract, due to expire in 2017, is currently led by Capgemini (see Capgemini UK: Q1 hit by Aspire novation), whom HMRC would apparently like to replace using short-term deals with ‘up to 400 suppliers’ but without a prime contractor running the show.
