Home Office seeks to lower entry barriers for IT suppliers

Kable - The Home Office wants to engage with suppliers as part of a new transformation strategy to reshape how it designs, procures and builds IT systems by lowering potential barriers for service providers of all sizes to bid on contracts.

As part of the ReSET4 programme, a strategy aiming to break down the department's core IT infrastructure into smaller component parts to allow for more agile technology management, an introductory webinar is being held this afternoon to explain the process, as well as outline future opportunities.

The strategy is seen by the Home Office as a means of cutting its operational costs ahead of the expiry of a number of its major IT projects in 2016 by moving away from larger end-to-end contracts that tie it to particular technologies.
