Whitehall IT: the state we're in

Kable - Civil servants want Whitehall technology and information managers to do more to make central government IT fit for purpose

Responses to a blog post written by the head of the Civil Service Sir Bob Kerslake have demonstrated the challenging state of Whitehall IT, and a general lack of confidence in civil service or departmental managers being able to do too much about it in the short term.

The blog entitled 'Government IT - making progress' - had asked civil servants a series of questions about their use of technology and called for their feedback. Questions included: 'How long does it take to log into your computer in the morning?' 'How many times a day does your email crash?' 'Are you able to access the websites you need in order to carry out your work?'
